Born on 30 December 1965, Susan Slusser is 58 years old now. Her parents raised her in Pebble Beach, California. She is American by nationality and has British roots on her mother’s side.
After graduating from Stevenson School in 1983, she attended Stanford University. There, she obtained a bachelor’s degree with a double major in English and History in 1988.
Susan has been involved in sportscasting since her high school and college days. She was a play-by-play announcer for the school radio station and called play-by-play Stanford baseball for the campus radio station.

Susan Slusser married sportswriter husband Daniel Brown after dating for some time. They first met in 1990 while she was working as a reporter for the Sacramento Bee and Dan was a student reporter at the University of California Davis.
The couple had a professional rivalry as she was covering the Oakland Athletics and Dan started covering the Giants. Nevertheless, the pair does not seem to be together now. As per Wiki sources, she filed a divorce case against her husband in July 2022.
Slusser and Dan do not have children together.
Indie Her Sports Journalism Career
From 1995 to 1996, Slusser covered for the MLB side Texas Rangers for the Dallas Morning News. She was a beat writer in the NBA and also worked for the Sacramento Bee, covering the Sacramento Kings
Likewise, she worked for the Orlando Sentinel, where she covered the Orlando Magic. In 1996, she began working with the San Francisco Chronicle covering the Oakland Athletics. After working for over two decades, she became the San Francisco Giants beat writer in 2021.
Slusser is also known for her tenure as a president of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA), being the first woman to serve in the role. Previously, she served as the vice president of BBWAA.
As an author, she has published two books 100 Things A’s Fans Need to Know and Do Before They Die (2014), and If These Walls Could Talk, Tales from the Oakland A’s Dugout, Locker Room and Press Box (2019).
