The golfer was born on 2 April 1987 in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland to parents, Brendan and Bridget Lowry. His father is the Offaly 1982 All-Ireland winning footballer. After completing his high school, he went to Athlone Institute of Technology to complete his education.

Shane stands at the height of 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) tall and weighs around 102 kg.

The 32-year-old has a net worth of $15 million from his playing career of over a decade. Firstly, he got to learn at Esker Hills Golf Club to commence his amateur career. In May 2009, he won the Irish Open on the European Tour, defeating Robert Rock on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff.

He soon got the number 168 spot at the Official World Golf Ranking as an amateur. Sometime later, he turned professional after securing the Irish Open triumph in 2009. In January 2010, he finished at the fourth place at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship and in 2012, he succeeded the
Portugal Masters. Likewise, for the 2015-2016 season, he accepted the PGA Tour membership.

However, he did not win on the European Tour from 2016 to 2018. A year later, he moved into a share of the 36-hole lead at the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Apart from a great career, Shane has the most caring wife as Wendy Honner. After knowing each other for a while, they went to exchange their wedding vows in 2016. Together, the couple shares a daughter, Iris, born in March 2017.

• In 2007, he won the Irish Amateur Close Champion, defeating Niall Turner 4 & 3 in the final.
• He made his professional début on 28 May 2009 where he shot 78 in the first round to end the opening day.

• He was the runner-up at the BMW PGA Championship in May 2014.
