The player was born as Richard Joseph Hill on 11 March 1980 in Milton, Massachusetts, to parents, Lloyd Hill Sr. and Peggy Hill. Besides parents, his family member includes his brothers, John and Larry Hill. Rich went to Milton High School.

The 39-year-old’s net worth should cross million dollar figures. In the 2002 MLB draft, the Chicago Cubs picked him, and sometime later, he signed an alluring contract on 10 July. After playing minor leagues for almost three years, he got the fortune to be part of the Cubs team from 2005 to 2008. In 2009, he went to Baltimore Orioles and then from 2010 to 2012, got into the Boston Red Sox.

A season later, the Cleveland Indians signed him in 2013. Likewise, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and New York Yankees picked him in 2014. Surprisingly, Rich returned to Sox in 2015 and went to Oakland Athletics in 2016. He had signed a year contract with Athletics on 17 November 2015 worth $6 million.

From the 2016 season, he allied with the Dodgers. On 5 December 2016, he and the team agreed-upon a three-year contract worth $48 million. However, for now, after the 2019 end, he is a free agent.

The athlete and his wife Caitlin McClellan exchanged their wedding vows on 11 November 2007. The couple shared two sons, Brice and Brooks. Sadly, the younger one, Brooks, died in February 2014, aged two months, of lissencephaly and congenital nephrotic syndrome.

Recently, the player got arrested on 21 December 2019. The reason was disorderly conduct and resisting arrest during New England Patriots game at Gillette Stadium. Rich allegedly tried to stop police from putting his wife under arrest when they attempted to enter the stadium multiple times with an oversized bag in violation of the NFL‘s stringent bag rules.
