The 25-years-of-age player was born as Patrick Lavon Mahomes II on 17 September 1995 in Tyler, Texas, the United States. He is the child of his parents, Pat Mahomes and Randi Mahomes. His father, Pat Mahomes was active as a baseball player from 1992 to 2003 and played for six different teams.

About 6 feet and 3 inches (1.91 m) tall in height, Patrick attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. There, he played football, baseball, and basketball. With promising stats in football, he committed to Texas Tech University and continued along with his amateur career. Furthermore, the young player became a top prospect for the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.

After a promising college career, Patrick Mahomes made his way to the National Football League as the first-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. Later on 20 July 2017, Patrick penned a fully guaranteed four-year, $16.42 million-worth contract with the team which includes a signing bonus of $10.08 million.

Patrick was picked as the starting quarterback for the 2018 season. In his first game as the full-time starter, he defeated the division rival the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 38-28. Eventually, he recorded his first career touchdown against the Chargers. The following week, he threw for 326 yards, six touchdowns, and a passer rating of 154.8.
