Christian Wood is an American professional basketball player, who plays as the power forward for the NBA side, Detroit Pistons. He formerly played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, and the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 24-years-of-age NBA star was born as Christian Marquise Wood on 27 September 1995 in Long Beach, California, the United States. He is the son of his mother, Jeanette Stewart. Besides, the identity of Christian’s father remains confined to date. However, it is known that he shares a sibling bond with his brother named Derek Stewart.

About 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 meters) tall in height, Christian attended Los Alamitos High School as a kid. There, he commenced his amateur basketball career. Subsequently, he transferred to Knight High School in Palmdale, California for one year before attending Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada.

Eventually, Christian joined the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2013, and played the college basketball for the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels from 2013 to 2015.

His NBA Career: Draft, Contract, Salary & More

After a commanding college career, Christian declared for the 2015 NBA Draft. Though going undrafted in the draft, Christian signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on 27 September 2015. As per the deal, he earned a salary of $339,762 in the 2015/16 season. Later on 4 January 2016, he was waived by the 76ers and was acquired by the Delaware 87ers two days later. Eventually on 4 March the same year, he returned to the 76ers and penned a 10-day contract with the team.

However, he was again waived by the 76ers in just three days and again joined the 87ers, and again returned to the 76ers with another 10-day contract. He then joined the Charlotte Hornets on 14 July 2016 and earned the salary of $874,636 for the 2016/17 season. Furthermore, Christian was signed by the Milwaukee Bucks on 14 August 2018, offering him the two-year contract worth $3,157,958, with an annual average salary of $1,578,979.

Unfortunately, he was waived by the Bucks on 18 March 2019 and got claimed by the New Orleans Pelicans on 20 March 2019. He was again waived by the team on 15 July 2019. After that, he joined the Detroit Pistons on 17 July 2019 and is associated with the team as of now.

Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The Pistons’ power forward has tested positive for coronavirus, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The NBA league was hit with a third case on Saturday afternoon (14 March 2020), after two players from the league had a positive COVID-19 test earlier in the week.

Detroit Pistons‘ Christian Wood has tested positive for coronavirus, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Wood had 30 and 11 rebounds against Rudy Gobert on Saturday night before a career-high 32 on Wednesday.

Sources say Wood has shown no symptoms and is doing well.

The first two players to have had the virus in the league are Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz. Christian’s Detroit Pistons played against the Jazz on 7 March 2020. And since, a number of teams that came into contact with the Jazz have already begun the testing process.
