Manuel Aristides Ramirez Onelcida a.k.a Manny Ramirez, age 49, was born on 30 May 1972, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At the age of 13, Ramirez moved to the United States with his parents, Aristides Ramirez and Onelcida Ramirez.

In 1985, Manny moved to the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City with his parents. Eventually, he started playing ball at the nearby Snake Hill, the exact place where Lou Gehrig, the former MLB legend, played during his childhood. Living in New York City, a few yards away from Yankee Stadium, the life of a young man was surely up for a revolution.

Ramirez’s educational run went as far for just four years as he joined George Washington High School at the age of 15. However, when he was 19, he left the school without graduating only to enter the baseball league. As a high school senior, Manny was named New York City Republic School Player of the Year in 1991 after recording a .650 batting average with 14 home runs in 22 games.

MLB Career

Ramirez kick-started his baseball journey with the school’s baseball team. Soon, the young boy became a standout and led his team to the hattrick of championships. An impressive high school career saw Manny inducted into the New York City Public School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.

A major turn in Ramirez’s baseball journey came in 1991 as he was picked by MLB side Cleveland Indians following a $250K signing bonus. However, the aspiring young talent had to wait for another two years for his major league debut.

Since the debut against the Minnesota Twins on 2 September 1993, Ramirez went to become the part of the Cleveland team till 2000. After that, his MLB career spanned out with Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, and Tampa Bay Rays. All that years acclaimed him a nine-time Silver Slugger and one of 25 players to hit 500 career home runs.

Career Between 2018 & Now

In April 2020, he expressed interest in returning to the Chinese Professional Basketball League. Unfortunately, no team offered him a contract. He later expressed his interest in playing winter baseball for New Zealand-based Auckland Tuatara of the Australian Baseball League.

However, he got associated with Sydney Blue Cox, signing a year deal on 29 August 2020. Some months later, he was released by the team on 11 January 2021 where he could not make any appearance because of the COVID-10 uncertainty affecting the season and also the ongoing medical problem that prevented him from playing or training with the squad.

Coming to his illustrious baseball career, the Dominican-American sportsperson bags a hefty net worth of $110 Million. Besides, his salary touches the figure of $500K. Let along with his first contract with Cleveland worth $250K, Manny signed a $160 Million-worth bumper deal with the Boston Red Sox.

Relationship Life: Wife & Children

The acclaimed sports-star is steering his personal life with the company of his beautiful wife, Juliana Ramirez. Since sharing the wedding vows in 2001, the pair is co-parenting two children; Manuelito Manny Ramirez and Lucas Ramirez. The former was born in 2003 and the latter in 2006.
