The 21-years-of-age player was born as Kostas Ndubuisi Antetokounmpo on 20 November 1997 in Athens, Greece to Nigerian parents. His late father, Charles, was a former Nigerian soccer player and his mother, Veronica, was a high jumper.

Speaking of other family members, Kostas’ oldest brother, Francis Antetokounmpo, is also a professional soccer player. In the meantime, his other older brothers, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thanasis  Antetokounmpo are associated with the NBA side, Milwaukee Bucks. He also has a younger brother named Alexis.

Standing tall at the height of 6 feet and 10 inches (2.08 m), Kostas attended Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. There, he commenced his amateur basketball career. Subsequently, Kostas took his talent further joining the University of Dayton.

Kostas made his college debut in the 2017-18 season where he averaged the stats of 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, in 15.1 minutes per game. Later on 22 March 2018, he was declared for the 2018 NBA draft.

Due to the lack of progress in his freshman college season, Kostas winded up as the last pick of the draft. He was initially acquired by the Philadelphia 76ers, only to be traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Kostas signed a two-way contract with the Mavericks on 13 July for which agreed to a yearly salary of $77,250. Kostas made his NBA debut on 20 March 2019 in a 118-126 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The young player was waived by the Mavericks on 19 July 2019. Following the termination, he is reportedly nearing his move to the Los Angeles Lakers.
