The player was born as Yante Khaaliq Daiyann Maten on 14 August 1996 in Pontiac, Michigan, the United States. He belongs to Afro-American descent raised by his parents, Bryant Maten and Toiya Paige along with a younger sister, Nia Iwuoha in a Christian home. It is reported that Nia is a child of Toiya from her another matrimony.

Talking about his education, Yante went to Lahser High School followed by Bloomfield Hills High School in Oakland County. Then he attended the University of Georgia to study and play basketball between 2014 to 2018. Yante stands at the height of 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 m) and weighs around 109 kgs.

Career, Stats & Contract

The 22-year-old is making a prominent paycheck from playing Basketball professionally since 2018. Although Yante wasn’t a pick at the 2018 NBA draft, he later penned a two-year contract worth $77,250 with the Miami Heat on 29 July 2018. As a part of his deal, Yante will also play for NBA G League team, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Earlier, he spent four successful years playing for Georgia until 2018. Over there he played 128 games starting 97 with an impressive stats of 27.9 minutes per game, .483 field goals, 3-point field goals of .403 with .755 free-throw percentage. Similarly, he recorded 6.9 rebounds with an average point per game of 1.0, .4 steals, 1.6 blocks and 14.7 points per game.

In early Feb 2017, Yante suffered a severe knee injury with Georgia game against Kentucky Wildcats in match number 13.
