The 32-years-of-age baseball player was born as Jay Allen Bruce on 3 April 1987 in Beaumont, Texas, the United States. He is the youngest of three kids of his plumber father, Joe Bruce and a schoolteacher mother, Martha Bruce.

Standing tall at a towering height of 6 feet and 3 inches (1.9 m), Jay attended West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas. With an immense passion for baseball, he later accepted a scholarship to play baseball at Tulane University.

Jay Bruce commenced his major league career with the Cincinnati Reds on 27 May 2008. He scored twice, walked twice, and stole a base starting in center field during his first start.

Jay was part of the Reds for nine seasons. Prior to his trade to the New York Mets on 1 August 2016, he recorded 233 home runs, 655 runs, and 718 RBI in as many as 1220 games. Later on 9 August 2017, Cleveland Indians picked Jay for one season before he returned to the Mets on 16 January 2018.

Although Jay signed a three-year, $39 Million contract with the Mets, he was traded to Seattle Mariners alongside his teammate Anthony Swarzak on 3 December 2018. The part of a deal also offered Jay Bruce with $20 Million. For the past few days, Jay is being linked to Philadelphia Phillies.
