Sadly, the veteran actress was pronounced dead on Monday, 19 December 2022. As per the reports, Sonya died due to a severe infection.
The deceased actress had an ordinary surgical procedure on 9 December 2022. However, she then contracted a severe infection which quickly spread out of control. She was then admitted to a hospital and placed on life support. Unfortunately, she breathed her last breath on 19 December.
Her actor friend, Octavia Spencer confirmed the heartbreaking news via her Instagram post on Tuesday, 20 December 2022. The post read,
My friend Sonya Eddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of General Hospital fans will miss her.
Following an unfortunate demise, General Hospital cast and crew members flooded tribute messages to Sonya and her family.
