Her sister, Venus Williams is just a year older to her, born on 17 June 1980 and plays professional tennis. Back in 2011, Venus was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease.

She was home-schooled along with her sister, Venus by their dad. The athlete stands at the height of 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 m) and weighs around 84 kg.

Serena and her husband Alexis Kerry Ohanian are married since 16 November 2017. Alex is the co-founder of Reddit who met Serena in May 2015 at the Cavalieri Hotel in Rome. Almost one and half-year of dating, they finally went to exchange engagement ring in mid-December 2016 after her husband booked the same room in the Cavalieri Hotel and proposed her.

Two months before their marriage, she and her then-fiance, Alexis delivered their first child. A daughter named Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. was born on 1 September 2017 at a hospital in Palm Beach, Florida. During the time, she had delivery difficulties as a result of cesarean-section complications.

  • Serena’s father, Richard (b. 16 February 1942) is a former tennis coach. His first marriage was Betty Johnson in 1965 that fizzled with divorce in 1973.
  • Richard then married Serena’s mother, Oracene Price; the 1970 graduate of Buena Vista High School in 1979. Sadly, the pair went for a divorce in 2002.
  • Her father’s third marriage is with Lakeisha Graham, who is just a year older to his daughter, Venus. Likewise, Serena’s mother also walked the aisle for the second with a man named Yusef Rasheed, who has already passed.
