Pete Alonso is an American professional baseball first baseman for the New York Mets of the Major League Baseball. He landed his major league break in 2019, after shining for the Mets in the minor league.

The 24-years-of-age MLB star was born with the name Peter Morgan Alonso on 7 December 1994, in Tampa, Florida, the United States. He is the son of his parents, Peter Matthew Alonso and Michelle Alonso.

Standing tall at the height of 6 feet and 3 inches (1.9 m), Pete attended Jesuit High School for his early education. Eventually, he transferred to Henry B. Plant High School in Tampa to finish high school. There he found his interest in baseball besides playing football and lacrosse as a side sport. Later, Pete enrolled at the University of Florida where he played college baseball for the Florida Gators.

After a compelling amateur career, Pete Alonso took the next step forward and joined the New York Mets as the 64th overall pick in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. He penned the contract with the Mets for a $909,200 signing bonus. After the contract, he played in the minor leagues with Brooklyn Cyclones, St. Lucie Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, and Las Vegas 51s.

Pete made into the major team in the Opening Day of the 2019 season. He signed a new one-year deal with the Mets which earns him the average salary of $555,000.  Subsequently, Pete registered his first home run on 1 April and multi-home run on 9 April 2019 in his Mets’ jersey. Besides, the rookie hit 53rd home run of the season to break the record set by Aaron Judge for the most home runs by a rookie in MLB history on 28 September 2019.
