Ex-Packers’ Legend Jordy Nelson Retires After Decade-Long NFL Stint!

After ruling over the National Football League for 11 staggering seasons, Jordy Nelson has decided to hang up his sporting boots. The reported retirement news of Green Bay Packers legend ringed his fans and followers on 27 March 2019.

Jordy Nelson’s NFL career kicked off as a second-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 2008 NFL Draft. Later on 27 July 2008, the newcomer penned a rookie contract with the 13-time league champions.

A decade-long stint with the Packers then saw Jordy feature in 136 regular season games with 88 starts. Amidst his exceptional career, he was regarded as one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL by the sports pundits. Let along the blistering stats of 550 receptions, 7,848 receiving yards and 60 touchdowns over 10 seasons, Jordy was part of Packers’ Super Bowl XLV triumph in 2010.

Following his decision to hang up his spikes, the wide receiver’s former Packers teammate, James Jones took over his Twitter to congratulate the legend sportsman.

Besides, Green Bay Packers congratulated their former franchise star and thanked him for all the memories with an Instagram post.

Jordy signed a two-year contract with the Oakland Raiders on 15 March 2018, after his time at the Packers ended two days early in the same year. Following that, he was released by the Raiders on 14 March 2019 after one season.

The NFL Star was born as Jordy Ray Nelson on 31 May 1985 in Manhattan, Kansas. He is the son of farmer parents, Alan Nelson and Kim Nelson. The 33-year-old attended Riley County High School in Riley, Kansas and kicked off his amateur football career. What followed was his glorifying college stint with the Kansas State University.

Jordy married his wife-turned-girlfriend, Emily in 2007, after proposing on a family vacation to Cancun. He shares two sons, Royal and Brooks, and an adopted daughter, Adda Jo, with his college basketball player partner.
