The world is mourning the loss of Bart Star. However, mainly for the rich-American football history, they lost a gem who had an untarnished career line.

Bart Starr took his last breath at the age of 85 on 26 May 2019 in his residence in Birmingham, Alabama. Well, the official news of his death was first announced by his former team, Green Bay Packers.

The reason for Bart’s deteriorating health was suffering a stroke back from 2014. The Packers also shared an emotional, social media post to remember their legendary star par excellence.

The Starr’s family also gave the death news statement which says,

We are saddened to note the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bart Starr, he battled with courage and determination to transcend the severe stroke he suffered in September 2014, but his most recent illness was too much to overcome. While he may always be best known for his success as the Packers quarterback for 16 years, his real legacy will always be the respectful manner in which he treated every person he met, his humble demeanor, and his generous spirit.

His family also expressed their gratitude thanking all his close associate who had been with him in the rough past five years. They further wrote,

The family also thanked the friends and fans who had enriched Starr’s life over the decades, especially over the last five years. His love for all of humanity is well known, and his affection toward the residents of Alabama and Wisconsin filled him with gratitude. He had hoped to make one last trip to Green Bay to watch the Packers this fall, but he shall forever be there in spirit.

Career & Net Worth

The 85-year-old had summoned a net worth of $4 million. Most of his paychecks came as a Packers player from 1956 to 1971. Right after a year of retirement, he became the quarterback coach for the Packers in 1972. Subsequently, three years later, he got the role of a head coach for the same team between 1975 to 1983.

Bret eloped with a lady named Cherry Morton in May 1954. The pair who chose to remain very secluded had constant pressure from peers about their scholarships to focus on sports. Because of which, Bret went to the University of Alabama while his wife remained in Jackson, Alabama.

Together the pair has two sons named Bart Starr Jr. and Bret Starr.

The late player was born as Bryan Bartlett Starr on 9 January 1934 in Montgomery, Alabama. His parents, Benjamin Bryan Starr (1910–1985); a labor foreman with the state highway department, and Lula (Tucker) Starr (1916–1995) raised him and his younger brother, Hilton E. “Bubba” Starr. His early life was hard due to World War II, and during the time his dad was deployed to the Pacific Theater in 1942.

Bret went to Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama and then attended his college, Alabama.
