Though born in Guyana, Shirleen moved to Ozone Park, Queens, New York when she was just three months old. After relocating to the United States, both of her parents worked for the NYC Transit Authority. Unfortunately, her father passed away in 2010 due to a full-blown stroke. 

As for her education, Allicot attended Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. There, she graduated with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism in 2004.
