American TV personality Michael Barbaro hosts The New York Times news podcast, The Daily. The former The Washington Post reporter is the 2018 recipient of DuPont-Columbia University Award, one of the most prestigious awards in journalism, while working at The Daily.

The journalist was born on 12 October 1979 and grew up in North Haven, Connecticut. Talking about his family, his father Frank had a job as a firefighter in Connecticut while his mother, Jean, worked as a library media specialist at Anna Reynolds Elementary School in Newington, Connecticut. Besides them, his older sister Tracy Barbaro works at Harvard University as a research lab coordinator.
The siblings went to Hamden Hall Country Day School in Hamden, Connecticut. In 2002, he got a Bachelor’s degree in history attending Yale University.

After his Yale degree, Michael got the fortune to work with The Washington Post in 2002. He was the reporter covering the biotechnology industry and three years later joined The New York Times, until 2007.
From August 2016, his association with The New York Times began from its popular political podcast, The Run-Up. The podcast on politics began to air twice-a-week and three months prior to the presidential election in November 2016. A year later, The New York Times launched another news podcast The Daily in February 2017. It became one of the most loved and number one podcasts across the nation that had 20–30-minute-long episodes.

Talking about his early relationship, his former husband is Timothy Levin. Michael is openly gay and is not hesitant about his sexuality. After knowing each other for a while, he went to exchange the wedding vows with Timothy on 19 October 2014 in their New York Apartment.
Timothy runs a tutoring and test-preparation company Bespoke Education. He graduated from Yale and received a master’s degree in education from Columbia. Sadly, they parted ways four years later from July 2018, and during an interview with the Evening Standard in June 2019, he mentioned their break up shortly after The Daily launched. However, for now, he is in a relationship and is engaged with The Daily executive producer, Lisa Tobin. They have neither confirmed nor denied their affair, but the New York Mag reports that they bought an apartment together in Brooklyn in 2019.
