Jameela Jamil was born as Jameela Alia Burton-Jamil on 25 February 1986 in London, England. She grew up in the family which consists of her Indian father, a Pakistani mother, Shireen Jameel, and brother Adnandus Dyzantae.

Jameela had a struggling childhood as she was born with congenital hearing loss and labyrinthitis. Due to which, she mostly spent her early age visiting hospitals on a regular basis. On top of that, Jameela went past a dangerous accident at age 17, as she was struck by a car after being chased by a bee. The aftermath of the accident left her with broken bones and damaged spine to which the doctors feared she might never walk again. However, Jameela found recovery after prolonged treatment and physiotherapy.

Standing tall at a height of 5 feet and 11 inches (1.79 m), Jameela was bookish from her childhood and had her academic interest in art and biology.

Career In Media And Entertainment

Media was literally the destined path for Jameela Jamil to forge her professional career. She put brakes to her teaching profession and ringed a presenting career with Channel 4’s slot T4 in 2009. Jameela co-hosted the British breakfast TV program, Freshly Squeezed from January 2009 to December 2012.

The media personality also hosted American reality show Playing It Straight in 2012. She later had a two-year stint on BBC Radio 1’s music chart program The Official Chart from 2013 to 2015.

Following a breast cancer scare at age 29 in 2016, Jameela diverged her career in acting with the NBC fantasy-comedy series, The Good Place. Since the versatile diva is flaunting her acting skills as Tahani Al-Jamil.

Jameela is set to appear with the recurring role of Auntie Pushpa in the 2020 release-staged, Mira, Royal Detective.
