Daniel B. Harris was born on 26 July 1971 to parents Jay R. Harris and Nancy Lee Harris. His father is the chair of Harvard’s radiation oncology residency program and his mother is a pathologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. His family consists of a brother Matthew Carmichael Harris with whom he grew up Newton, Massachusetts.

Standing at the height of about 5 feet 9 inches, Dan attended Colby College in Waterville, Maine. He earned his graduation at the age of 22 in 1993.
