American Journalist Matt Lauer is the former host of NBC’s most loved program, The Today Show. He became the co-host of The Today Show from 1997 until the end of 2017 after the sexual harassment case put upon him.

The TV personality was born as Matthew Todd Lauer on 30 December 1957 in New York City. Talking about his family, he was raised by Marilyn Lauer, a boutique owner, and Jay Robert Lauer, a bicycle-company executive. To complete his education, he got his undergraduate degree from Ohio University at age 39 in 1997.

Later, he did attend the school’s Scripps College of Communication, School of Media Arts and Studies. Matt stands at the height of 5 feet 11 inches (1.8 m) tall and weighs around 68 kg.

The 62-year-old has a net worth of $60 million from professional journalism between 1979 until 2017. Ten years later, after taking a communications degree, he got the fortune to work at WOWK. He then returned to New York City for WWOR-TV in September 1989 to host 9 Broadcast Plaza. A year later, he got a call to be part of the Kushner-Locke Company show, Day in Court.

He allied with NBC in 1992 and became the co-host of the early weekday news show Today in New York. A year within, he became the co-host at Five alongside Sue Simmons until 1996. From 1997, he co-hosted NBC’s show Today from 1997. On 30 November 2016, he agreed to sign a staggering contract of $20 million a year with NBC until 2018.

In November of the same following year, NBC fired him. NBC broadcasting on 29 November 2017, announced his termination after the broadcasting’s unidentified woman accused him of sexual harassment. According to the victim, he harassed her during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and in New York.

Broken Marriages & Divorce After Sexual Harassment Case!

The former The Today Show’s co-host’s previous wife is a writer and television producer, Nancy Alspaugh. After walking the marriage aisle on 17 July 1982, the pair parted way in 1988. In July 1997, he met a Dutch model, Annette Roque, in July 1997 and post five months dating, got hitched on 3 October 1998 in Bridgehampton, New York.

Together they share three children: Jack born on 26 June 2001), daughter Romy on 2 October 2003), and another son Thijs on 28 November 2006. While Annette was pregnant with their third child when she decided to part ways with Matt. She filed for divorce because of humiliation and mental pressure from Matt, but weeks later, they reconciled. However, the marriage came to an end on 17 September 2019 in the wake of Matt’s 2017 sexual harassment allegations.
