The next year The Carolina Hurricanes selected him in the 12th overall round. A few days apart, he and the team agreed upon a three-year-old entry contract on 15 July 2017. Likewise, his first NHL goal came in a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lighting on 16 October 2018.
