Thomas Mark Harmon was born on 2^nd September 1951 in Burbank, California. He is the youngest of three children born from parents Tom Harmon and Elyse Knox. His father Tom was a football player and broadcaster and his mother Elyse was AN actress, model, and fashion designer. His family consists of two older sisters, Kristin Nelson, and Kelly Harmon.

Standing at the height of 6 feet (1.83 meters), Harmon attended Harvard-Westlake School. He graduated cum laude with a degree in communications from UCLA at the age of 23.

Mark’s first job as an actor was in an episode of the 1972 sitcom Ozzie’s Girls. In 1995, he appeared in the ABC series Charlie Grace as a private investigator. He began to appear as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in action police procedural series NCIS from 2003.
