Three days post his demise, four men named Venjah K. Hunte, Eric Rivera, Jason Scott Mitchell, and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow were arrested on 30 November 2007. The culprits were given felony second-degree murder, armed burglary and home invasion robbery with a firearm including life-long imprisonment. The first-day murder trial was on 21 October 2013 where Jackie said,

I got a towel and tried to stop the bleeding and ran outside and screamed for help. I told them someone was dying, to please hurry.
