After the graduation completion, the Chicago Bulls picked him in the 45th overall pick during the 2003 NBA draft. In spite of that, Chicago traded him to Toronto Raptors. Similarly, the Raptors urged Matt to play at the Italian league with Sicilia Messina in Messina, Sicily. During his tenure at Messina, his states were an average of 19.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

After adequately getting to know each other, they started dating for a couple of years until Matt made a surprise proposal to Nadia in a hunting game. He sent her to the city of Toronto for a scavenger hunt on Valentine’s day and the final pursuit of the game was Matt himself.

The pair got hitched on 1 August 2008 at Vaughan Estate in Toronto. To mark their tenth marriage anniversary, Matt took a snap of his wedding picture on his social media post.
