Hamidou Diallo is so early in his NBA career. However, he has shown an immense passion for the game since being picked by Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2018.

Hamidou Diallo Bio & Family: Age, Parents, Height

Born on 31 July 1998, Hamidou Diallo is a son of his Guinean parents, Abdoulaye and Marima Diallo. His father worked as a cab driver and his mother as a hairdresser.

Hamidou hails from Queens, New York City as his parents emigrated to New York from Guinea some decades ago. His age is 22 as of 2020.

As Hamidou shares his last name with another NBA star Cheick Diallo, many get confused about whether the two players are brothers in real or not. Apparently, they just share the same last name and same profession, nothing more than that.

Besides, Hamidou spent his childhood with his three other siblings: elder brother and sister, and younger brother. 

Standing at a tall height of 6 feet 4 inches (1.96m), the NBA shooting guard weighs around 90 kg (198 lbs). Besides, his flexible body aids him to leap and dunk comfortably as seen on his latest contest triumph.

Early Career Transition: High School-College

Passion for the game got Hamidou to initiate his basketball career when he attended John Bowne High School in Flushing, New York. With the 17.1 average points, 6.6 rebounds per game, and 2.7 assists under his belt, Hamidou went on to compete on the Under Armour Association Circuit for NY Jayhawks in summer 2015.

With the appreciable performance, he recorded 22.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over the circuit. Soon the lad transferred to Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut, and later joined New York Rens on the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Circuit.

Hamidou’s college career kicked off as soon as he joined the University of Kentucky on 7 January 2017. He recorded 18 points, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds to defeat Utah Valley on 10 November 2017. Soon, he was up for stepping his foot in the professional field.     

His NBA Career/Slam Dunk Triumph

A pure mixture of passion and dedication carried the young boy towards the grandest stage of the NBA when he was presented in the draft for the 2018-19 Season. Initially picked by the Brooklyn Nets as the 45th pick on 21 June 2018, Hamidou was traded to the Charlotte Hornets and at the last to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

A month later on 28 July 2018, Thunder publicly announced the signing of young player Hamidou Diallo. Later on 16 October the same year, Diallo made his NBA debut against Golden State Warrior, which ended in a 100-108 loss for the Thunder. However, Hamidou showed some sparkle with four points, a rebound, and an assist on the game.

Finally on 16 February 2019, Hamidou claimed NBA Slam Dunk Contest, becoming the first-ever Oklahoma City Thunder player to achieve that feat. His astounding jump and dunk over 7-foot basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal earned him the title of ‘Superman.’ Besides, he did the Vince Carter elbow dunk and flashed Superman undershirt while hanging from the rim. 

After playing for three seasons, Diallo was traded to the Detroit Pistons on 13 March 2021.

Given his fresh-and-running career in NBA, the Guinean-American basketball player reportedly amassed a healthy net worth of $1 Million. Besides, his Oklahoma City Thunder salary for the 2018-19 Season stands out at $838,464.

Apart from that, Hamidou received a healthy paycheck of $1,416,852 from the team for the 2019-20 Season. It certainly did greater goods for the young starter as he was already the 453rd best-paid NBA player in 2019. For the 2020/21 season, Hamidou will receive a salary figure of $1,663,861.
