Born on 31 July 1998, Hamidou Diallo is a son of his Guinean parents, Abdoulaye and Marima Diallo. His father worked as a cab driver and his mother as a hairdresser.

Initially picked by the Brooklyn Nets as the 45th pick on 21 June 2018, Hamidou was traded to the Charlotte Hornets and at the last to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
A month later on 28 July 2018, Thunder publicly announced the signing of young player Hamidou Diallo. Later on 16 October the same year, Diallo made his NBA debut against Golden State Warrior, which ended in a 100-108 loss for the Thunder. However, Hamidou showed some sparkle with four points, a rebound, and an assist on the game.
Finally on 16 February 2019, Hamidou claimed NBA Slam Dunk Contest, becoming the first-ever Oklahoma City Thunder player to achieve that feat. His astounding jump and dunk over 7-foot basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal earned him the title of ‘Superman.’ Besides, he did the Vince Carter elbow dunk and flashed Superman undershirt while hanging from the rim.
After playing for three seasons, Diallo was traded to the Detroit Pistons on 13 March 2021.
