The talented actress was born as Lena Kathren Headey in Hamilton, Bermuda on 3 October 1973. She is the first child of her English father, John Headey, who is a Yorkshire police officer, and mother Sue Headey.

Lena relocated to Somerset when she was five alongside her younger brother, Tim. She then moved with her family to Highburton, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire at the age of 11. During her childhood, she took ballet lessons.

Following the failed relationship, Lena had a short-term fling with her Game of Thrones co-star, Jerome Flynn. However, their romance ended before March 2014.
