American musician George Strait is widely famous as the “King of Country.” He is the recipient of Country Music Association Awards in 1989, 1990 and 2013, and the ACM Entertainer of the year in 1990 and 2014.

The country music singer was born on 18 May 1952 as George Harvey Strait Sr in Poteet, Texas. He grew up in nearby Pearsall, in Frio County to his late parents, John Byron Strait Sr. and Doris Jean Couser along with his sister, Penny, and brother, John Jr. who died in a hotel in 2009 at the age of 59.

After completing his high-school at his hometown, the musician went to study agriculture at Southwest Texas State University.

The 66-year-old has an elevating net worth of $300 million from his musicality and acting career since 1975. After his discharge from the US Army post four years service in 1975, George spent most of his time in making good music. In 1981, he went to sign a solo contract with MCA Records for her first album, Strait Country.

Similarly, he also made his acting debut in 1992 movie Pure Country. For the film, he recorded some hit songs like I Cross My Heart, Heartland, Where the Sidewalk Ends and The King of Broken Hearts. Some of George’s other commercially successful songs are Here for a Good Time (2011), and I Got a Car (2013) to name a few.

George’s Wife & Their Daughter’s Death

Talking about his personal life, George and his wife, Norma Strait were high-school sweethearts. The couple eloped and married a few years later in Spain on 4 December 1971. During the same year of his marriage, he was enlisted in the United States Army.

Just a year after their matrimony, they delivered their first child as a daughter, Jenifer on 6 October 1972. Sadly, the first child died at the age of 13 in a horrific San Marcos car accident on 25 June 1986.

Five years before her death, the family became four upon the arrival of their son, George Strait Jr. a.k.a Bubba in 1981. George is in a career pursuit of a professional rodeo competitor.

• George’s father, John born on 11 January 1922 demised at the age of 91 due to a long illness on 4 June 2013.
• His dad was a junior high school mathematics teacher and the landlord of a cattle ranch of 2,000-acre (810 ha) in Big Wells, Texas.
• His mother, Doris, born on 26 June 1930 parted ways with his father while he was in his fourth grade. Doris at the age of 79 demised on 30 January 2010.
• After his daughter’s passing, the family is into the Jenifer Lynn Strait Foundation that aids the children of the San Antonio area.
