Katherine Clare Timpf was born on 29 October 1988 to parents Daniel Timpf and Anne Marie Timpf in Detroit, Michigan. She has two siblings; a sister named Julia and a younger brother named Elliot Timpf. Her mother died at the age of 57 on 5 November 2014.

Timpf with a height of 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 meters) went to Hillsdale College in 2006. There, she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English at the age of 22 in 2010.

Katherine began her career as a staff writer at Toledo Free Press in 2008. She worked as a business desk intern on the Washington Times from June to August 2009. Similarly, she interned on both the Fox News and KFI News.
