Yvonne Orji is a Nigerian-American actress and comedian, who earned recognition for her role as Molly in the HBO series, Insecure. Besides, she is a comedian, who performs on stand-up comedy.

Yvonne Anuli Orji was born on 2^nd December 1983 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She is the youngest child of Nigerian parents Iduu Odu and Celine Orji. Her parents emigrated from Nigeria to the United States when she was six and settled in Maryland. There, she grew up with three elder brothers in Laurel, Maryland.

Orji graduated from George Washington University with a Master’s Degree in Public Health. Her parents wanted her to become a doctor, lawyer, pharmacist, or engineer but she wanted to pursue her career in comedy. She even performed stand-up in the talent portion of a beauty pageant while in college. Later, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in comedy.

Earlier, Yvonne appeared in a small role on the TV show Love That Girl! (2011). Similarly, she appeared in the 2013 short movie Sex (Therapy) with the Jones, playing the role of Moshinda.

In 2015, Orji got the opportunity to cast in the role of Molly Carter in the HBO series Insecure. Her acting credits include Jane the Virgin (2017), Flip the Script (2017), and Night School (2018). She is set to appear as Agent Rosetti in the upcoming science-fiction film Spontaneous.

Besides acting, the 36-year-old is currently pursuing her career in comedy. She is the writer of web sitcom pilot First Gen, where she discusses her stand-up routines and real-life experiences.

Yvonne is open regarding her personal life and often talks regarding her relationship. She was in a relationship with a former NFL linebacker and ESPN analyst Emmanuel Acho. The duo made their relationship public in May 2018.
