Well, the friends and colleagues of John Singleton sent their best wishes after news of the stroke. The family of an Oscar-nominated director even thanked his fans and followers in a statement for the good wishes.

Oscar-nominated American director John Singleton is in intensive care at an undisclosed hospital after he suffered a stroke.

The 51-year-old filmmaker, known for movies such as Boyz N the Hood and 2 Fast 2 Furious felt ill on 17 April 2019. Subsequently, his family released a statement to the Press Association.

On Wednesday, 17 April our beloved son/father, John Singleton, suffered a stroke while at the hospital. John is currently in the ICU and under great medical care.

We ask that privacy be given to him and our family at this time and appreciate all of the prayers that have been pouring in from his fans, friends and colleagues.

The statement was signed by the Singleton family, including his four children. John was the first African-American to be nominated for an Academy Award for best director.

Following the news of his hospitalization, various Hollywood celebrities sent their best wishes to the director.

American rapper Snoop Dogg posted a picture with him on Instagram with a caption, “Pray 4 my brother.”

The other names include a two-time Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro, filmmaker Brian Koppelman and actress Nia Long.

The five foot six inch is a father of four children. His daughter, Justice Maya Singleton and a son Maasai Mohandas Singleton was born from his ex-wife Tosha Lewis. Similarly, he has a daughter named Hadar Singleton from Ghanaian actress Akosua Gyamama Busia. John married Akosua in October 1996 but they divorced in June 1997. He also fathers Cleopatra Singleton, a daughter born in 1998.
