Devin Armani Booker was born on 30 October 1996 to parents Melvin Booker and Veronica Gutierrez. His father is a former professional basketball player. His parents did not marry and he has two half-siblings; a brother and a sister.

The Phoenix Suns selected Booker with the thirteenth overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. He made his NBA debut against the Dallas Mavericks in October 2015. He became the third-youngest player in the history of the NBA to reach 4,000 career points in 2017. However, in 2019 he sprained his left ankle, ruling him out for the last three games of the season.
