Courtney interned at WWLP-TV, a dual NBC/CW+-affiliated television station in Springfield, Massachusetts. She began her journalism career in 2006 from the CBS-affiliate WHBF-TV in Rock Island, Illinois.
After working for two years, she left the station and joined a dual ABC/MyNetworkTV-affiliated WQAD-TV. After the brief stint, she moved to KELO-TV, a dual CBS/MyNetworkTV-affiliated television station in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 2008.
There, she produced and reported the news during her two-year stint. Similarly, from 2010 to 2012, she worked as an anchor and reporter for KSFY-TV.
In 2012, she joined WFSB, a CBS-affiliated station in Hartford, Connecticut. She now serves as a news reporter for the Eyewitness News 3 team for the network.

The 40-year-old reporter is soon to tie a wedding knot with her boyfriend. She and her boyfriend got engaged back in July 2020.
