She is the daughter of her parents, Michael Cyprian Waller-Bridge and Teresa Mary, who are divorced. Her father, Michael, founded the electronic trading platform Tradepoint, whereas her mother works for the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers. Phoebe has an elder sister named Isobel Waller-Bridge, who works as a film score composer. She also has a younger brother named Jasper Waller-Bridge, who is a music manager.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge commenced her acting career as Katie Burbridge in the British medical soap opera, Doctors, in 2009. Her notable big-screen break came as Viscountess Yarrell in the 2011 British-Irish drama flick, Albert Nobbs.

Subsequently, Phoebe starred in few other TV series including How to Live Your Life (2010), The café (2011-13), Bad Education (2013), and Broadchurch (2015). Later on, she created, wrote and starred in the BBC comedy-drama series Fleabag (2016-19). She also serves as a creator and producer of the British spy thriller series, Killing Eve (2018- present).
