Oscars Special: Regina King (Best Supporting Actress)

American actress Regina King obtained the Oscar in the category of Best Supporting Actress at the 91st Academy Awards for her performance in the 2018 romantic drama movie If Beale Street Could Talk. She portrayed the character of Sharon Rivers, who is a fierce advocate for her daughter, Tish in the movie, adapted from James Baldwin’s 1974 novel of the same name.

The 48-year-old got a bit emotional while collecting the prestigious award and paid tribute to Baldwin’s writing adopted by director Barry Jenkins.

Born as Regina Rene King in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1971, she celebrates her birthday on 15^th January every year. She is the eldest daughter of parents; an electrician father Thomas King, and special education teacher mother, Gloria (Cain).

Regina grew up in View Park-Windsor Hills along with her younger sister Reina and went to Westchester High School. Later, she earned her graduation from the University of Southern California.
