Maxwell is a son of his parents, Jeff Jenkins and Julie Jenkins. His father, Jeff, is a former Ringling clown. Maxwell shares a sibling bond with his sister named Samantha Jenkins.

Maxwell commenced his career at the age of eight as Oliver in the ABC drama TV series, Betrayal, in 2013. He was part of the show for 12 episodes till 2014. Subsequently, he parted in the American sci-fi drama web television series, Sense8, as Young Will.

Furthermore, Maxwell had short stints on TV shows like NCIS: New Orleans and Chicago Fire in the year 2015. Eventually, he landed a big-screen break with the 2016 American drama film, A Family Man, as Ryan Jensen. The young star’s latest TV appearance was as Will Robinson in the sci-fi series, Lost in Space, in 2018.
