His father played as a pitcher and quarterback at Georgia Tech University. He grew up along with a brother Bob and a younger sister named Carlee Roethlisberger in Lima, Ohio, and later moved to Findlay.

Roethlisberger pursued his high school education at Findlay High School. He then went to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and began his college football.

He graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Education at the age of 30 in 2012. His listed height is 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 meters), and he weighs 240 lbs (109 kg).

Roethlisberger won the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2004 and his first Pro Bowl selection in 2007. He ranks 6th all-time in NFL career passing yards, 9th all-time in passer rating (94.0), tied for 6th in yards per attempt (7.93).

Moreover, he tied for 10th in completion percentage (63.85%) among quarterbacks with a minimum of 1,500 career attempts.
