Standing tall at the height of 6 feet (1.83 m), Austin was tutored at home for three years before he sat for the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) in tenth grade. Subsequently, he completed his high school education formally.

Austin’s initial acting appearance came as Lionel Scranton in the live-action sitcom, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide from 2005 to 2007. His big-screen appearance was as Danny in the 2007 short movie, The Faithful.

The promising actor earned more recognition starring as James Garrett in the comedy-drama series, Zoey 101, in 2008. His other TV series appearances include Ruby & the Rockits (2009), Life Unexpected (2010-11), Switched at Birth (2011-12), and Arrow (2014-15). His latest small screen appearance was as Wil Ohmsford in the fantasy drama show, The Shannara Chronicles (2016-17).
