Katherine Anne Couric was born on 7 January 1957 to parents John Martin Couric Jr. and Elinor Hene. Her father a public relations executive and news editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the United Press in Washington, D.C. Moreover, her mother was a homemaker and part-time writer. She has three siblings; two sisters Emily and Clara Couric Bachelor and a brother, John M. Couric Jr.

Standing at the height of 5 feet 3.25 inches (1.62 meters) she pursued her high school education from  Yorktown High School at the age of 18. The Arlington native received a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from the University of Virginia.

After the graduation, Katie worked for the ABC News and later at CNN as an assignment editor. Moreover, she gathered reporting experience from then-CBS affiliate WTVJ and the NBC-owned WRC-TV.

In 1989, she joined NBC News and served as a national political correspondent for the Today show from 1991-2006. Later, she moved to CBS News and began to anchor CBS Evening News. There, Couric was a 60 Minutes correspondent and also was the lead reporter for a documentary program, CBS Reports.

Katie returned to ABC in 2011 and worked as a special correspondent for two years. Similarly, she hosted The Katie Show on Disney ABC Television Group from 2012 to 2014. Her recent television work was a Global Anchor of Yahoo! News, serving from 2014 to 2017.

Firstly, Katie married attorney Jay Monahan on 24 January 1989. They welcomed their first daughter Elinor Tully Monahan 23 July 1991. Later she gave birth to the second daughter, Caroline Couric Monahan on 5 January 1996.

Unfortunately, her husband Jay passed away because of colon cancer at the age of 42 in 1998. Since then, she is actively involved in colon cancer awareness.

The 62-year-old began dating financier John Molner in 2011. After two years, they got engaged in September 2013. Katie and John tied the wedding knot on 21 June 2014 at in a small, private ceremony at her home in The Hamptons. She is now relishing the second married life, forgetting the past misery so far.
