Born on 17 March 1994, he began his professional career with Admira Wacker and Rapid Wien in Austria. In 2014, he joined the Bundesliga team RB Leipzig and had a loan spell at Austrian Bundesliga team Red Bull Salzburg for a season.
After joining Bayern Munich in 2021, he was loaned to Manchester United for the 2022-23 season. Following the end of the season, he signed for Borussia Dortmund in July 2023 and plays from there.
