Allen entered the NFL field after the Jacksonville Jaguars picked him in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Subsequently, on 21 June 2014, the Jaguars signed him to a four-year, $3.51 million contract that also included $1.17 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $877.718.

The young player opened the regular season as the fourth wide receiver. He recorded four receptions for 75 yards against the Washington Redskins on 14 September 2014. At the end of the rookie season, Allen finished with 48 receptions for 548 yards and two touchdowns.

Allen left the Jaguars team after penning a three-year, $42 million-worth deal with the Chicago Bears on 14 March 2018. He ringed his Bears debut in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers on NBC Sunday Night Football where he recorded a team-high 61 yards.
